Student reps are students who put themselves forward at a faculty, school and course level to represent your views and interests to the university. There are student reps who cover the academic life of students and those who cover personal lives of students including eight full-time executive officers who work in a paid role to represent the interests of students.
Through peer mentoring, higher year students help lower year students with a range of issues, including challenges they may be facing in their personal or academic lives. All mentors are trained for this role to help new students feel settled in higher education.
If you want to work in small groups with your peers, discussing the work that has been set that week then PASS is a great way to get involved with university. Mainly first year students are able to work together to resolve issues and problems they come across in their studies in an informal yet regular setting. PASS leaders on the other hand help students with activities and direct them to the best sources to complete their studies.
You can also be involved with the Widening Participation programme which is organised at a faculty level, aimed at encouraging young people to study in higher education.
